Typically installed where major excavation is not an option. This style of installation may have minimal concrete work, based on your installation preferences. The system is attached to the road surface through basic concrete anchors and bolts.


The ROADBLADE is an electrical system (no hydraulics) and the pole mount electronics can be set-up for 110 volts or 220 volts for the main input 

The pole mount box has all the electronics for the system. The housing used is a nema 4 enclosure for outdoor applications. These electronics offer built-in battery back-up for the blades as well as electronic warning outputs back to the main building when activation stations are added to the system.

The actuator box for the system is made of stainless steel and is painted with a two-part epoxy paint for durability. A sealed 1000 lb actuator drives the blades in a push-pull motion. All other components in the actuator box are water resistant.


Modules are made from T-51 cast aluminum able to withstand 50 tons. Surface modules are 11.875 inches wide by 20 inches in length  with ramps on each side for transitions. This ramp design in the surface system also provides a speed bump for the roadway. Modules are machined to allow for heating elements to be installed. Two groves are on the underside of each module for placement of our mineral insulated heat cable. This cable is thermostat controlled to automatically come on at a preset temperature keeping any ice from forming on the system. The blades are made of hardened stainless steel in a "V" shape design to cut tires from either direction. All other critical hardware used on the modules are made of material to inhibit rusting.

Just like the permanent flush style of system the surface system can be linked to gate arms supplied by PMG or linked to existing gate arms at the installation. Proximity sensors can be added to existing gate arms to activate the ROADBLADE system or the systems can be activated at the same time for a more secure location that needs a visual gate arm warning.
