Why the Automatic RoadBlade?
• The Automatic RoadBlade (ARB) can be easily integrated with other
security systems.
• Because the ARB sits flush with the road, it is a hidden security
system that goes unnoticed.
• The ARB requires minimal relocation costs should the tire shredder
need to be moved.
• Spring loaded systems do not prevent someone from leaving the perimeter
unauthorized.
The ARB can be immediately be activated to stop any threat vehicle.
• Spring loaded systems blades and springs can wear out.
• Vehicles cannot travel more than 5 mph over spring loaded systems.
Because of slow speeds, traffic flow can easily back up at busy
times of day.
• Dirt and debris easily builds up.
• Warping and binding can occur.
• Spring loaded systems cannot be immediately deactivated should an
emergency situation occur or high threat levels rise.
The Automatic RoadBlade system is designed to provide security where personnel
is unable to focus their full attention or is understaffed for situations
such as preventing traffic for going the wrong way at an outbound lane. The
Permanent RoadBlade tire shredder is integrated with directional logic loop
sensors at a predetermined distance away from the tire shredder, monitoring
traffic direction. The tire shredder mounts flush with the road surface, easily
going unnoticed by an intruder, and uncombersome to normal traffic flow.
By incorporating the sensors, the tire shredder can operate unmanned. The
retractable stainless steel blades are triggered when a vehicle is detected
by the sensors traveling in the wrong direction. For example, vehicles can
safely leave a facility without tire damage when traveling in the proper direction.
The blades will remain inactive (down) when normal traffic flow occurs. Should
a vehicle attempt to enter using the designated outbound lane, the blades
will activate (up) once the vehicle runs over the sensors. If the driver continues
along the same path, the vehicles tires will be damaged by the tire shredder.
Flashing warning lights and/or sirens can also be added in order to alert
the driver and normal traffic that the system is engaged in the road.
The system can easily be disengaged for abnormal traffic flow, such as for
emergency vehicles or in high threat levels if lanes need to be switched to
accomodate different traffic patterns.
Use the interactive illustration below to view demonstrations of the Automatic
RoadBlade tire shredder system. Depending upon your internet connection, it
may take several minutes to load. (When videos are viewed for the first time,
they will play slower. Play again for normal speed.)
